Finally Home!

We just got home last night from our fun trip. We actually went farther than what was originally planned. One Of The Best Lessons in Life Is Learning To Forgive

I've been watching 48 Hours Mystery as it is one of my favorite programs on television. I always like documentary stories especially when it comes to crime or unsolved mysteries. Anyhow, I've watched this murder story about two months ago. It was about a family murder, plot and orchestrated by the family member. Actually, their eldest son did plot the said murder. He was found guilty and sentenced to death penalty. Since, it happened in Texas to which the State Law implements the said sentence for the murder/killing. He killed his mother and baby brother and miraculously his father did survive. He's found out to be a Sociopath which is defined as someone who never recognizes the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims. They don't feel guilt as they feel entitled to certain things as "their right." What a sad yet outraging ending.
Anyhow, I've watched Oprah Winfrey a few days ago and they happened to feature the follow-up story of the said convicted murderer. And believe me, I was very astound how his father who survived from the murder plot of his own son had this big heart to forgive him. In fact, he was appealing to the Court that his son's sentence be reduced at least to life imprisonment. However, the sentence has been called final. I did get teary eyed and overwhelmingly moved by the father's courage to forgive and embrace his son after all his wrongdoings. Being a mother, I feel for him and I look up to him being the father that he is. Although his son requested that he will be alone during his prosecution; his father will be there until the very end.

Teaching Cassy To Be Multilingual

Its definitely a decision to make for me and my husband to teach our daughter to speak in my native dialect which is Bisayan or Cebuano in popular term. It's because I want her to acknowledge her Filipino/Bisayan heritage and also be spontaneous being a multilingual speaker someday.
I got mixed signals from people saying the kid might end up confused and on the other side saying it will be good since she can't only speak English but also other language. Our decision boils down to teaching her as I feel it's necessary. It's better off teaching her early as she is just a sponge right now. She learns everything quickly. It will be harder to teach her I bet when she gets older. I have a gut feeling that she will just do fine as I see her being attentive and smart!

Hubby's Speaking Bisayan

So, I got a short story to share.. It was seven o'clock in the morning when my dearest hubby Kevin got me these flowers. He kissed my forehead and said "Gisimba ko ikaw, gugma ko!" which means "I adore you my love!" Since, I was a big sleepy head that morning, couldn't wake up right away. But I was sure he said something and caught up a few.. I answered back "asa ta magsimba?" which means "which church are we going?" since it was also Sunday! For Bisayan speakers, you would probably know that those words sound alike but different in meaning. Anyway, he tried to convince me to open my eyes and repeated it again. I bursted out in laughter as soon as I understood what he said exactly! I sure got moved with what I heard but it was hilarious to hear it from him! You would proudly know why since he had an American accent. I sure got moved with hubby's thoughtfulness! Definitely I am very proud of my hubby! He really makes an effort to learn Bisayan. Fil-am Get Together

We just got home and it's about 11:15pm; my hubby and I attended the filipino american get together. It was held in Maritess place celebrating her husband's birthday. Meeting More Kababayan!

Pictures from the spontaneous get together. These people are really nice and warm people. It wasn't planned. The idea was to visit Jo on Thursday and then I met Ate Aileen who lives few blocks away from Jo's house. She has been here for 12 years originally from Mindoro, Philippines. She's a very candid woman by first impression! Also met, Ate Marilou from Keller, whose on her 70's. I have yet to grab pictures of that quite a food trip we had in Jo's house.
Anyway, on Saturday Ate Aileen invited us over because she did some cooking. To my surprise she was cooking for a "feast party!"LOL! She's a very good cook by the way! She started calling her friends and relatives to see if they are available, then they came. So, there we were introduced. Kuya Felix and her wife along with their kids just moved from Florida. While Ate Rose, Ate Neng her husband are from Saginaw. And the other white guy was Ate Aileen's husband Dave. They're really nice, welcoming people.

It's definitely getting chilly out here in Texas. But it's nothing compared to the Oregon coast where we were, much more so in the Midwest. It's just a perfect temperature. Had A Great Weekend!

Hello to all of you guys! Hope you had a great weekend with your family and friends! I had been off from the computer since Thursday since I had to meet my other friend, then hubby took the Friday off and just spent the whole weekend driving around and getting out of the house! It's just a relief really to do something else that is different from my monotonous, repeated routine except for the fun part with my daughter, hubby and dogs! I'd say I had a great weekend! My family had a quality time which I treasure dearly as well as meetings other friends from the Fil-am gathering we attended and the unplanned meeting with new Filipino friends around Watauga. I should grab some pictures soon for me to get you a good description of the events. It's just really nice to be able to build social networks, and be able to relate with various people. But as I have said in my previous posts, I only have a few treasured friends that I know will last. It's just nice to be able to meet others being away from home.
Anyway, I will get more details later on my succeeding posts!:-)

It's a girlfriend date!

Tomorrow I will be gone to see my friend Jo. I have promised to see her but due to 3P, I kept hesitating. Mom's can relate to this, what do you think?;-) But anyway tom, I will have my day-off in the computer and give time to a dear friend:-) I missed her anyway, we talk on the phone every day yet it's still different when we can do some fun stuff together with our kiddos.
